Opened in April 2015, The Basement East has a reputation for must-see shows in Nashville. ‘The Beast’ has played host to nationally touring acts including Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, KRS-One, Beck, Luke Combs, Brandi Carlile, Cage the Elephant, Alice Cooper, Old Dominion, Yo La Tengo, Project Pat, Marcus King, Maren Morris, Halestorm, Wet Leg, Sierra Ferrell and many more. The venue’s reputation for a multitude of quality shows can be attributed to owners Mike Grimes and Dave Brown’s relationships in the Nashville music scene dating back to the 1990’s. With their intrinsic desire to cultivate the local music scene, it was only natural that they would eventually scale up from the original Basement on 8th Ave to create the next step for artists that have “graduated” the smaller club. “Get happier f*ckers,” is our motto, and from the beginning, it’s been our mission to use our rock ’n’ roll spirit to bring the Nashville community together through a common love for live music. We’ve rebuilt and recovered after the 2020 tornado and the pandemic.
