Sunday Roast Serves Up an Evening of Twang, Mystery, and Vintage Vibes at The
Original Basement
Nashville’s favorite early-evening live music showcase, Sunday Roast, returns to The
Original Basement for a special night of roots, revelation, and retro flair. The
November 16 lineup brings together three unique acts spanning the wide landscape of
Americana, Psychedelia, and beyond—with just enough mystery to keep audiences
buzzing until the first chord rings out.
Headlining the evening, Charlie Degenhart will celebrate the one-year anniversary of
his acclaimed album, Eleven Birds, praised for its vivid storytelling and melodic
craftsmanship. Known for his warm baritone and sharp songwriting, Degenhart’s return
to the Basement promises both nostalgia and new surprises.
The night’s intrigue builds with the debut of FXYVXZ—an enigmatic collective whose
name, insiders hint, stands for The Foxy Vox Five. True to the mythic spirit of the
British Invasion, the band performs exclusively on 1966 Italian-made Vox red
teardrop guitars. Their true identities remain a closely guarded secret and will be
revealed only at showtime—and not a minute sooner.
Kicking things off will be Buckeye Rebooted, a reassembled project led by Scott
Hylbert and backed here by The Getdown Band. The group’s sound—a bright blend
of twangy jangle grass drawn from Hylbert’s wide-ranging catalog—bridges folk
tradition and modern grit, setting the tone for an unforgettable night.
