Liv Greene

Liv Greene is a queer Americana singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist, whose music “envelops a forlorn loneliness that’s at once poignant and crushing.” - American Songwriter.

Inspired by the records spun in her childhood home in DC—brilliant women of song like Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Brandi Carlile, Lucinda Williams, and Ella Fitzgerald— Greene’s passion for storytelling started early and took off the moment she taught herself her first guitar chords at 12. Over summers in high school, Greene journeyed north for fiddle camps and bluegrass festivals, and found herself in love with the New England folk scene, influencing her decision to sharpen her craft through four years at New England Conservatory. Upon graduating in 2020, Greene quietly released her first album, Every Bright Penny, aptly-named both as an homage to its crowdfunded conception, but also to the reverence of small things and the flashes of hope that live in its lyrics. The record was produced by friend and mentor Isa Burke (Aoife O’Donovan, Lula Wiles), and featured a band of mostly women, creating the perfect environment for Greene to grow and begin envisioning herself in new roles in the studio. Now living in Nashville, Greene just finished work on her second album, which had her stepping into the role of sole producer for the first time. With the help of her friend and mentor, Grammy-winning engineer Matt Andrews (Gillian Welch), Greene has woven a record of deeply honest writing, sparse lyric-driven arrangements, and stunning live tape performances, with the lilty earnesty of her voice flowing over it all.
